Dawn Green, Ph.D., is an award-winning creative producer and director with over 16 years’ experience shepherding documentary and narrative feature productions, television series, and independent shorts. Her work has appeared on SyFy Channel and Oxygen Network. 

Formerly faculty at Stanford and U.C. Santa Cruz, she pivoted to filmmaking as a Fellow at the American Film Institute gaining an MFA in Producing. Her AFI thesis film, LE JEU DES SOLDATS, won first place in the 2011 BAFTA/LA Student Film Festival and was a national finalist for the 38th Annual Student Academy Awards competition. 

Dawn considers filmmaking the most effective way to reach a wide audience. She is interested in artful storytelling dealing with contemporary cultural, social, and political issues including human welfare, rights and dignity, equity, and democracy. She is directing her feature documentary SHELTERING LOVE, about her journey as the primary caregiver for her mother who is living with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Her short film, THE FARM OPTION, was born out of her research about alternative care models for Alzheimer’s and other dementias (AAOD) in Norway. Dawn recently produced GO FOR GRANDMA, a fantasy short film directed by Sabrina Doyle and starring Justine Lupe and Amy Madigan. It premiered at AFI FEST 2023. Other narrative projects include SWINE, a crime-thriller currently in development, and an episodic series called DUKES OF KINGSTON.

Dawn has a Ph.D. in Italian Literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a BA from Brandeis University in English and Creative Writing.
